Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher insist that Ben Godfrey was lucky not to be sent off during Everton’s clash with Arsenal.
The 23-year-old appeared to stamp on the face of Takehiro Tomiyasu whilst the Gunners right-back lay prone on the pitch following a challenge from Allan.
The incident was checked by VAR but wasn’t deemed worthy of retrospective punishment.
However, Neville claims the Godfrey should have received his marching orders but can understand why he remained on the pitch.

“He definitely 100 per cent means that", he said whilst discussing the incident on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.
“But I can see why VAR have said it’s accidental, we couldn’t prove it's not an obvious error.
“But as a professional you know that, that should’ve been a red, he’s meant it but I can see why it's not a red.”
Fellow pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher agreed with Neville’s analysis.
Adding: “He’s a very a lucky boy.”
Everton came from behind to beat Arsenal 2-1 on Monday night to secure a first Premier League win nine games.
The Gunners took the lead in first half stoppage time through Martin Odegaard's strike, however Richarlison appeared to have snatched a point after he headed past Aaron Ramsdale following Demarai Gray's shot which cannoned off the bar.
Gray then struck from all of 20 yards out in stoppage time to secure a much needed three points that moves the Toffees up to 12th in the table.
