100 people led to safety as thunderstorm prompts landslide at local caravan park

Emergency services evacuated a Fife caravan park on Tuesday after flooding prompted a landslip.

Considerable flooding and a landslide were reported at the Pettycur Bay caravan park near Kirkclady in Fife.

It caused the closure of the A921 between Kinghorn and Burntisland.

Police urged motorists to use an alternative route.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted from around 10.30pm on Wednesday, August 12 to reports of significant flooding affecting areas across the East of Scotland.

“Firefighters have attended a number of incidents across Edinburgh, Fife and various other regions.
