100 journalists murdered in Colombia since 1980

There have been more than 100 murders of journalists in Colombia since 1980 - and the situation is getting worse, according to a report by Fundación para la Libertad de Prensa (FLIP). From January to June 2006, FLIP recorded 72 events it categorised as press freedom violations, compared to 48 for the same period in 2005. In that period, one journalist was assassinated, one was abducted and four were forced into exile. (Via IJNET.org)
