BHOPAL: For the third consecutive day in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday, more than 100 new Covid-19 cases were reported in a single day as 107 people tested positive for the infection.
One death was attributed to Covid-19 in the state from Jabalpur district. “A 76-year-old patient who was suffering from respiratory issues was admitted at a private hospital on June 25 and was kept on ventilator. He had taken both doses of Covid-19 vaccine and had tested positive for Covid. He was suffering from diabetes and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD),” district health officer, Dr D Mohanty told TOI.
As many as 127 people had tested positive for Covid-19 in MP on Friday. On June 30 too, 126 new cases were reported.
Only 62 people recovered on Saturday. Thus the number of active patients increased from 592 on July 1 to 636 on July 2. There were only 136 active cases in MP on March 31.
Only 7,065 samples were tested in the state in the day. Positivity surged to 1.5%. New infections were reported from 16 of the 52 districts of the state. Indore reported 44 new cases, Bhopal 20, Jabalpur 10, Ujjain 5. Katni and Narsinghpur districts.
