A 50-strong group of eco warriors collected more than 100 bags of rubbish from local shorelines over the weekend.
Volunteer group Friends of Dumbarton Foreshore organised litter picks at Havoc, Levengrove, Dumbarton Rock, Lidl, Castlegreen, and Milton. They were joined by new local group Friends of Leven River Valley led by Cula Murphy, who tackled the Leven banks at Dalreoch.

Participants aged from nine to 80 years-old came from all over Dumbarton and were split into small Covid secure groups to remove 108 bags of litter from local shores - with odd finds including a pair of crutches, a chimp mask and a toy jumbo jet as well as chairs, bikes and old fridges.
Organiser Zoe Weir said: “This was the first time we had worked as multiple groups at once, and members found it empowering to have such a positive impact on a wider area. We have had a great response from the public using bags we have placed for litter, and a surge in interest as people have reconnected with nature during lockdowns.”

The award-winning group have picked more than 2000 bags of tidal and historic fly-tipping.
