100% attendance approved at SMS Stadium for first India-New Zealand T20I

JAIPUR: The Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Stadium is set to welcome crowds at full capacity on November 17 when India will begin their home season with a T20I series against New Zealand in Jaipur. As the pandemic situation continues to improve in Rajasthan, the state government in its letter to the association has given its go ahead, permitting 100 percent seating capacity," said RCA president Vaibhav Gehlot, and added that they will ensure the fresh Covid-19 guidelines issued by the home department on Monday are strictly followed. Moreover, the online sale of tickets for the match will start from November 11.

"Masks will be compulsory, proper sanitization and ventilation in enclosed areas will be ensured, thermal screening will be in place, spectators who are fully vaccinated will be allowed entry. While those who are partially vaccinated will have to carry a negative RT-PCR report not older than 48 hours," RCA secretary Mahendra Sharma said.

Talking about security and maintaining sanctity of the bio-bubble, the president said, "The BCCI has twice informally communicated to us to ensure there is no bio-bubble breach even during the practice sessions. So we have hired private security and sought cooperation from the state police department."

Since thermal screening will be in place and RT-PCR reports along with vaccination certificates will have to be checked as part of the Covid-19 protocol that will be followed, spectators will be asked to arrive at the stadium a few hours before the match begins. "We will have a time frame to ensure smooth entry. The police department has suggested a minimum five hours, but we will once again hold a discussion over it and then take a final call," the president added.
