£100,000 stash of statues, barbecues and bikes stolen in West Lothian and Fife found by police

A £100,000 stash of stolen items including Christmas trees, barbecues, plants, lawn mowers, bikes and statues have been recovered by police.

The items were allegedly stolen during raids at Leslie Bike Store in Glenrothes and garden centres in Dunfermline and Broxburn.

Police Scotland say goods were taken from the bike store on 9 December, the Dunfermline garden centre on 17 October and the Broxburn garden centre on 30 November.

They were recovered by officers during searches of properties in Ayr, Prestwick and Auchintiber.

Detective Constable Fraser Simpson, of Glenrothes CID, said: "The incidents were reported last year and as a result of our investigation, we are now able to return the property to its rightful owners.

"We believe there are still a number of bikes outstanding so if anyone has been offered bikes for sale in Ayrshire recently, perhaps at a reduced price or unusual circumstances, I would encourage people to please contact us on 101 quoting incident number 0862 of 9 December 2019."
