10-year agreement over running of Broadmarsh Bus Station

A decision has been approved to allow bus and coach operators to use the Broadmarsh Bus Station for 10 years.

The car park of the complex, which has more than 1,200 spaces, opened from November 1.

Inside the building is a new bus station, which is set to open in the new year.

A city council report states the authority has taken the decision to approve a 10-year user agreement for bus and coach operators.

It was recently revealed the cost of running the car park had risen by £1.8m since the last budget was set back in 2018.

The council says: "The proposed agreement will confirm the arrangements with the bus and coach operators to enable bus and coach provision to be established in the new Broadmarsh Bus Station."

The decision has been delegated to the council's corporate director of growth and city development, Sajeeda Rose, who was recently appointed who hoped to transform Nottingham into the "city to watch".

The costs and contract are, however, exempt due to commercially sensitive information relating to departure charges.

The bus station will also feature a new security team in a specially-developed office.

The council added: "The security team will have two staff stationed on site in a security office at all times and they will monitor CCTV, as well as undertake regular patrols and react to incidents as witnessed or reported. Regular maintenance and cleaning of the premises and facilities will be undertaken to an acceptable standard.

"Clear operational rules and standards are communicated to the bus and coach operators within the agreement to ensure their management and staff are aware of their responsibilities."
