10 Things I Hate About You: Joseph Gordon-Levitt shares throwback photo of original cast

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has shared a touching throwback photo in celebration of the 21st anniversary of 10 Things I Hate About You

The actor starred as Cameron in the cult teen film, about a teenager who hatches a plan to pay bad-boy Patrick (Heath Ledger) to date Kat (Julia Stiles), the scary older sister of his crush, Bianca (Larisa Oleynik).

“Today, March 31st, is the anniversary of ‘10 Things I Hate About You,’” Gordon-Levitt tweeted.

“All of us were friends and spent so much time together that whole summer. Nothing but love for all the wonderful memories I had making that movie.”

Along with the message to fans, the 39-year-old linked to an old Instagram post that shows a throwback photo with castmates Stiles, Ledger, Gabrielle Union, Oleynik, Andrew Keegan, and David Krumholtz.

The film came out in the US 21 years ago – its UK released followed four months later on 9 July – and has since become something of a cult classic.

According to screenwriter Karen McCullah, speaking to the New York Timesfor the film’s 20th anniversary last year, it was thanks to Ledger’s casting that one of the film’s most iconic moments took place.

In this particular scene, Patrick attempts to woo Kat by performing Frankie Vali’s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You” in front of the whole school.

The other song choices were, apparently, “I Think I Love You” by the Partridge Family and Divinyls’ “I Touch Myself”.
