The NFL draft is now just under two weeks away and although the intrigue has been about what the Eagles will do with their first-round pick, there’s plenty of drama surrounding the second-round as well.
The Eagles will again have pick No. 53 and if Howie Roseman chooses to stand pat, there are a number of intriguing options, including a bevy of talented wide receivers.
The Eagles could choose to go cornerback, safety or linebacker with the pick as well.
We’ve provided a list of ten players the Birds could target in round two of the 2020 NFL Draft.

1. Chase Claypool, WR, Notre Dame
Considered a second- or third-round pick before the 2020 NFL Combine, Claypool brought back visions of Calvin Johnson with his movements.
At 6-4, 240-pounds with the ability to line up as a tight end, Claypool may have given coaches pause about a position change after he ran a 4.42, making him the first receiver over 230 pounds to run sub-4.45 since Calvin Johnson in 2007.
Claypool is strong, can jump out the gym and could be an option for the Eagles if they move on from Alshon Jeffery.
2. Cesar Ruiz, G/C, Michigan
The Eagles need an eventual replacement for Jason Kelce, and he could provide a backup option at both guard spots as well. Ruiz (6-3, 307 pounds) has a nasty blend of power and athleticism but can use the early part of his NFL career to improve his pass protection.
3. Jaylon Johnson, CB, Utah
Johnson (6-0, 193 pounds) is an aggressive, physical cover man who plays well on the perimeter and shows the potential to be a shutdown corner.
Last season at Utah Johnson allowed only nine completions on 22 targets for 112 yards over his last seven games in Pac-12 play.
4. Grant Delpit, S, LSU
Delpit is rangy and could be a perfect fit to learn from the veterans. The 2019 Jim Thorpe Award winner is viewed as one of the top two safeties coming out of the 2020 NFL Draft class and the type of young and elite playmaking talent the Eagles need.
5.Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado
Shenault is a dynamic playmaker who can score from anywhere on the field and in a variety of different ways as well.
He just suffered a core muscle injury, but should be ready to go by the start of the 2020 NFL season.
Shenault Jr. has elite skills as a runner and receiver and could become a matchup nightmare for Wentz and the Eagles.
6. Jeremy Chinn, S, Southern Illinois
A consensus first-team All-American, Chinn is a safety that can excel in coverage.
7. Michael Pittman Jr., WR, USC
At 6-foot-3, 219-pound Michael Pittman Jr. is an intriguing prospect, who knows the NFL game because of his father and just starting to flash the enormous potential that has some scouts gushing.
8. K.J. Hamler, WR, Penn State
The speedster is a huge DeSean Jackson fan and at the NFL Combine, Hamler told the media that he patterns his game after the Eagles star.
The 5-foot-8, 178 pound Hamler had 56 catches for 908 yards and 8 touchdowns last season for the Nittany Lions.
9. Kyle Dugger, S, Lenoir-Rhyne
Dugger (6-1, 217 pounds) has the speed, strength, and explosiveness to start at either safety spot and was the only Division II athlete at the Senior Bowl.
During his career at Lenoir-Rhyne Dugger recorded 237 tackles, 10 interceptions, 36 pass breakups, 6 forced fumbles, 6 fumble recoveries, and two blocked kicks to go along with six punt return touchdowns.
His ability to hold up in coverage makes him that more appealing as a candidate.
10. Curtis Weaver, EDGE, Boise State
Weaver (6-2, 265 pounds) is a high-energy pass rusher that has a huge upside and could help the Eagles transition into a new era when Brandon Graham is done.
