The security guard who was involved in the Chappell Roan hotel dispute and confronted 11-year-old Ada Law, daughter of Jude Law and Catherine Harding, during breakfast in a hotel in Brazil has broken his silence in an Instagram post. The incident reportedly made the young girl cry, which occurred after the guard approached the family to ensure the security of the area where Roan was dining.
Pascal Duvier was accused by the girl's stepfather, football star Jorginho Frello, who claimed a 'large security guard' spoke in an 'extremely aggressive manner' to his wife and stepdaughter for 'harassing' the celebrity.

Duvier said that he takes 'full responsibility for the interactions on March 21st' and was at the hotel for another individual. Here are the 10 photos of the security guard as he faces backlash for the scandal.
The Controversy
The controversy started when Ada's stepfather, football star Jorginho Frello, turned to Instagram and shared the experience of his wife and stepdaughter.

He claims that a 'large security guard' spoke in an 'extremely aggressive manner' to his wife and stepdaughter. Jorginho alleged that Ada had merely smiled at the 'HOT TO GO!' singer before being reprimanded to the point of tears.
Ada's mother also shared their experience on Instagram and confirmed that the 11-year-old was 'extremely shaken' by the scolding, leading the family to cancel their plans to attend Roan's performance at Lollapalooza Brasil later that weekend.
According to Harding, the incident 'ruined' Ada's birthday treat after Duvier chose to 'berate and scold' the mother-daughter pair with a 'very aggressive tone.'
Chappell Roan's Side
When the controversy took the internet by storm, Roan told her side of the story and publicly apologised to Ada and her mum. She said that no one approached her during breakfast and insisted she did not ask any security guard to approach the mother and child. She also said that the security wasn't hers.
'I didn't even see a woman and a child. No one came up to me' she added, 'It's unfair for security to just assume someone doesn't have good intentions when they have no reason to believe, because there's no action even taken,' she explained. 'I do not hate people who are fans of my music. I do not hate children. Like, that is crazy.'
Pascal Duvier's Statement
Days after the viral controversy, the security guard revealed himself and addressed the viral allegations that had circulated since the weekend. On Wednesday, 25 March, Duvier confessed that he was the security guard.
He wrote: 'I do not normally address online rumors, but the accusations currently circulating are false and constitute defamation'.

Duvier said that he took full responsibility for the interaction and clarified 'I was not part of the personal security team of Chappell Roan. The actions I took were not on behalf of Chappell Roan, her personal security team, her management, or any other individuals.'
Duvier also maintained that his decision to approach the family was a 'judgement call' motivated by a perceived 'heightened overall security risk' at the São Paulo location. He stated that his interaction with Harding was 'calm and with good intentions,' despite the distress it caused to Ada, he said, 'the outcome of the encounter is regretful.'
Netizens React to Duvier's Confession
Following Duvier's statement, netizens immediately reacted, and their response is largely critical, particularly regarding the involvement of a minor.
On X, one user commented, 'There is absolutely no excuse for making an 11-year-old girl cry just for smiling at someone. Celebrity culture has gone too far.' Another netizen added, 'If you are so "professional," you should know the difference between a stalker and a child at breakfast. This is pure intimidation.'
On top of it, others questioned Duvier's move, 'I am kind of struggling to understand why you would take authority to do something that you were unauthorized to do...'
However, some in the industry have offered a different perspective. 'Security in Brazil is a different beast entirely,' one commenter noted. 'Guards are on high alert 24/7. It sounds like a massive misunderstanding in a high-stress environment.'
Meanwhile, some people think Roan is still behind the confrontation, one wrote: 'So he just at the hotel running up on anyone for artist he's not contracted to work for?? This is total bullshit! Nice try Chappell.'
'So he randomly approached her in a reported 'unfriendly' manner to protect someone he wasn't even assigned to... using info from a hotel that says they had nothing to do with it? yeah alright, hope she paid him enough to take the fall,' another one said.
Neither Roan nor Ada Law's family has commented on Duvier's statement.
