10 old favourite Glasgow pubs that we miss from the 1990s and 2000s

Glasgow has countless great pubs to visit, soak up the atmosphere and have a rare night - and maybe a wee shot at the karaoke if you are lucky too, to boot.

That being the case, like any city, there are a host of pubs that, despite disappearing from our streets years back, still live long in our collective memories as places we enjoyed visiting for the odd swally.

Here's our list of some of those old haunts from the 1990s and 2000s that will no doubt have been home to a few characters in their day - the likes of which, with Glasgow being Glasgow, you'll still see at different pubs dotted about the city!

Frankenstein

The former West George Street themed boozer is now Shilling Brewing Company.

The Universal

The Universal Bar and Restaurant on Sauchiehall Lane is now Malones Irish Bar.

The Living Room

This boozer was located near the bottom of Byres Road across from where Tony Macaroni's is now.

The Alphabet Yard

The former boozer on Millbrae Road in the south side is now a Tesco Express.

Finnegan's Wake

The old Irish pub on St Vincent Street in the city centre is now Chaakoo Bombay Cafe.

The Rubaiyat

The popular old Byres Road boozer is now Van Winkle - West End.

The Canal

The bar and restaurant was located on Bearsden Road not too far from Lock 27 in Temple/Anniesland.

Uisge Beatha

The once popular Woodlands Road haunt is now Dram.
