SONGKHLA: Immigration police rounded up 10 Myanmar nationals on Monday as they were preparing to leave for Malaysia from Hat Yai district.

Police also arrested two Thai recruiters, Walit Useng, 27, and Muhamad Che-ubong, 23, and one Myanmar recruiter, Kheow Neng, 32.

Songkhla immigration police chief Pol Col Chutharet Yingyongdamrongsakul said the 10 Myanmar nationals were workers crossing the border at an unmanned post to Thailand in Ranong. They planned to go to Malaysia from Sungai Kolok district in Narathiwat.

The three agents would receive 2,500 baht per head for sending them to Malaysia, he added.

The workers were charged with illegal entry and the three recruiters were charged with offering shelter to illegal migrants.
