The new year is finally here and there are plenty of events happening in Liverpool in 2022 to look forward to.
2021 saw the return of events following the numerous lockdowns and restrictions due to the pandemic, however some were forced to be postponed.
Hopefully this year's events will be able to go ahead as planned so that everyone can have some much-needed fun.

Les Miserables
The iconic musical is coming to the Liverpool Empire from January 5 to 22 as part of its UK tour.
Les Mis tells the story of Jean Valjean who is released from prison after almost 20 years for stealing a loaf of bread. Eight years later, he has worked hard to give himself a better life. However, his parole-officer Javert will stop at nothing to see Valjean behind bars once again.
Meanwhile, Valjean's adopted daughter, Cosette, falls in love with Marius, a student who has joined the fight for justice in the streets of Paris.
The musical features hit songs including "One Day More", "Bring Him Home" and "I Dreamed a Dream".

Strictly Come Dancing arena tour

The class of Strictly 2021 are taking to the M&S Bank Arena dancefloor on February 3 and 4 2022.
Winner Rose Ayling-Ellis, Sara Davies, Max George, AJ Odudu, Tilly Ramsay, Rhys Stephenson and John Whaite are the celebrity guests who’ll be dancing during the 2022 tour.
They’ll be joined by their professional partners and there will be live music from the Strictly singers and band.

Randox Grand National
The Grand National returns to Aintree Racecourse in April 2022 for three days of horse racing.
Thursday April 7 will see the return of Randox Liverpool’s NHS Day, Friday 8 is Randox Ladies Day and Saturday 9 is the Randox Grand National.

Mamma Mia!
The much-loved musical is coming to the Liverpool Empire in March 2022.
Set on a Greek island, Mamma Mia! is a story of love, friendship and identity cleverly told through the timeless songs of ABBA.

Liverpool Comic Con

Liverpool Comic Con returns in May 2022 with sci-fi fans, comic book lovers and Cosplay enthusiasts turning up to Exhibition Centre Liverpool dressed as their favourite characters.
Celebrity guests revealed so far include Originals and Vampire Diaries star Joseph Morgan, Glee alumni Matthew Morrison and Heather Morris, Smallville's Tom Welling, and Mark Lester and Shani Wallis from Oliver!

Little Mix
The girl band's postponed 2021 Confetti tour is finally taking place in Liverpool in April 2022.
Perri Edwards, Jade Thirlwall and Leigh-Anne Pinnock will take to the stage at M&S Bank Arena and perform songs from the Confetti album as well as their most iconic hits.

Jason Manford
Stand-up comedian Jason Manford is performing at Liverpool's M&S Bank Arena on October 1, 2022.
The Jason Manford: Like Me tour was originally taking place in October 2021, but like many events last year has been rescheduled for 2022.

River of Light

Liverpool's iconic light show returns this year from October 21 to November 6.
The 2021 River of Light featured a variety of spectacular light instalments across the city and the waterfront. This included 'The Pool' which consisted of light up pads you step on, lit up giant 'Trumpet Flowers' and an illuminated 'Sonic Runway'.
The website will be updated with more information about the 2022 event later in the year.
Blondie
Blondie's postponed Against the Odds tour is finally taking place in Liverpool at the M&S Bank Arena on May 2, 2022.
The New York band will be performing classic hits like 'Heart Of Glass', ‘Atomic' and ‘Tide Is High’ alongside their last songs from the album Pollinator.

Peter Kay
The comedian's postponed Dance For Life tour finally arrives in Liverpool in August 2022.
Peter Kay is hosting a "dance-a-thon party that will change lives". Dance to all the biggest hits from the last 50 years with plenty of pop, cheese and disco tracks.
