10 Easter Weekend activities to keep the kids busy

Bank holiday Easter weekend is upon us but after having the kids at home so much already may have left you feeling fresh out of ideas on how to entertain them.

But fear not, we have compiled a fun list of things parents can do to keep your tribe busy this weekend - and some of the activities might even spill into the the school holidays.

Easter egg hunt

Plan an easter egg hunt for your little ones. Kids will love searching for clues and chocolate eggs around the hours or if it's dry, take it outside in the garden.

Easter scavenger hunt

Ok, so we are all pretty fed up of 'going for a walk', but since it's still pretty much the only covid-friendly activity, why not make it a fun walk and print of a list of Spring-based things, like cherry blossom tree, tulips, daffodils, etc, for your little Easter scavengers to spot while they walk.

Egg decorating

Boils some eggs and paint or colour them with pens. A great tradition in most households and there are lots of tutorials online for how to turn your egg into a masterpiece or your favourite character.

Roll with it

Take the eggs you decorated to the nearest grassy hill in your area and get rolling!

Design an easter egg or easter card. If you want something a bit more extravagant why not order a Toucan Box for your kids. They are fun packs of craft activities with everything you need in one box.

Egg and spoon races

Put the decorated boiled eggs to good use and have yourselves a good old fashioned sports day - inspired fun in the garden with a family egg and spoon race.

'Egg' tossing

Fill up some water balloons and play a game of 'egg' toss. The aim is to keep the balloons in one piece as you throw them from person to person. If you're feeling really brave, use real eggs!

Bake!

Get your culinary head on and bake up a storm. There are lots of Easter-based recipes out there for you to try, from extravagant Easter chocolate cakes, to chocolate Mini Eggs cake nests. It can be as simple, messy and fun as you want it to be.

Picnic

This one is always weather permitting in Scotland - but sunshine always seems to fall on the bank holiday weekend. Why not meet up with another family and plan a picnic in the park with the kids?

Make an Easter wreath

This is along the lines of the Easter crafts - but more for the big kids in all of us. Make a wreath for your front door to mark the spring holiday and if you're really crafty, it might be one you can pull out every year.
