LUDHIANA: Just 10 days after division of family property, the owner of a famous bakery chain in Ludhiana allegedly shot his younger brother dead at the latter’s house in Basant Avenue on Monday night.
The accused, Palwinder Singh, 38, of Sant Ishar Singh Nagar, used his brother Gagandeep Singh’s licensed revolver to execute the crime.
According to the police officials, the brothers had a property dispute which led to the murder. The incident occurred in front of Gagandeep’s wife Roopdeep and father Hardeep Singh. Hardeep and his family were owners of the chain of Lucky bakery.
The Sadar police have arrested Palwinder, who had been booked in a murder on the statement of Gagandeep’s wife Roopdeep Kaur.
Inspector Jadev Singh, SHO, Sadar police station, said the owner of Lucky bakery, Hardeep Singh, had two sons Gagandeep and Palwinder. Gagandeep lived in Basant Avenue along with his family and parents while Palwinder resided in Sant Fateh Singh Nagar with his family. Hardeep had divided the family property between his sons about 10 days ago, he added.
But Palwinder was allegedly upset with the division as he felt that Gagandeep had got more share than him. This was the reason for the dispute between the duo. But despite the feud, they were on talking terms. Around 9pm on Monday, Palwinder casually went to Gagandeep’s house to meet him.
“About half an hour they sat and chatted. Later, the conversation took an ugly turn and they started arguing over the property. After heated arguments, Palwinder picked up the licensed .32 bore pistol of Gagandeep and shot at him in front of his wife.
