10 countries 'set to move from amber to green list' including Italy and Germany

Ten countries, including Italy and Germany, could move from the amber to green list next week.

The Department for Transport has committed to a formal review of its rules for travellers arriving into the UK before Sunday.

And, a travel review of the list will take place on August 5.

Since July 19, people arriving in the UK from amber list locations, such as the US, have had to have received both doses of a vaccine in the UK to avoid the requirement to self-isolate for 10 days.

The rules exclude those who have been inoculated elsewhere in the world.

However, some new nations and holiday destinations could join the green list next week.

They include Italy, Germany and Poland, according to early predictions from travel experts, reports BirminghamLive.

Scientists at the Joint Biosecurity Centre are currently reviewing 77 countries.

The Telegraph has reported some of these could join the green list on August 5.

Former BA strategist Robert Boyle has identified the countries most likely.

Mr Boyle has predicted:

Romania

Slovenia

Lativa

Lithuania

Slovakia

Poland

Germany

Italy

Austria

Switzerland

It comes as Jet2.com and Jet2holidays have launched a ‘Useful documents’ feature on their mobile apps, allowing customers to upload and store important travel documents, such as overseas country entry forms and negative Covid-19 test results in one location.

Steve Heapy, CEO of Jet2.com and Jet2holidays, said: “As a result of Government travel requirements, there are additional documents for holidaymakers to be aware of such as test results and passenger locator forms."

He added in his statement: “As we start to welcome back more customers and increase our offering to include flights and holidays to over 40 quarantine-free destinations, we want to make the process of travelling with us as smooth as possible."
