10 brilliant theatre shows coming to Liverpool that you don't want to miss

You can't beat a trip to the theatre where you can get lost in a captivating performance.

Here in Liverpool, we are lucky to have so many incredible theatres, each one steeped in history and showcasing incredible performances from some of the very best talent in the industry. If you're looking to book a theatre trip, there's plenty to choose from in the coming months.

From musicals packed full of dance numbers to plays that will get you on the edge of your seat, there's something to suit all tastes. We've compiled a list of some of the shows to get excited about below.

Liverpool Empire

There's plenty of incredible shows coming up at the Liverpool Empire. Families can enjoy a fun trip out to see Hey Duggee The Live Theatre Show from Tuesday, February 2 to Saturday, February 4. The lovable dog is touring for the first time ever in a production that's sure to entertain the kids.

Catch a performance of Bugsy Malone from Monday, February 6 to Saturday, February 11. The world-famous movie will be turned into a spectacular touring theatre experience for the first time. The King and I will be taking to the Liverpool Empire stage from Tuesday, February 21 to Saturday, February 25. The critically-acclaimed show will feature a talented cast including Call The Midwife star, Helen George.

Don't miss Mother Goose, a hilarious family-friendly panto which will be at the Empire from Tuesday, February 28 to Saturday, March 4. The show stars Sir Ian McKellen and John Bishop and has received glowing reviews from critics.

Epstein Theatre

Liverpool's Epstein Theatre has a packed programme of events for music, theatre and comedy lovers to enjoy. Ricky Tomlinson will host Ricky's Royle Variety Show on Sunday, February 5. The afternoon of entertainment will see talented cabaret performers, comedians and musicians take to the stage.

The hit stage version of Andrea Dunbar's Rita, Sue and Bob Too will be at the venue from Saturday, February 11 to Sunday. February 19. The cast includes Emmerdale star Michael Parr, Crissy Rock and Hollyoaks' Jessica Ellis. Then, on Wednesday, February 22, RuPaul's Drag Race stars Ginny Lennon and Sister Sister will be bringing their You Keep Me Hangin' On tour to the Epstein, including a chance for a meet and greet.

Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse Theatres

Thursday, February 2 will see the Everyman host A Lovely Word Featuring Dominic Berry - a free event that showcases the talents of an array of open mic poets. From Tuesday, February 7 to Tuesday, February 21, the BBC cultural revolution project Life in a Goldfish Bowl will be available to view for free in the Everyman Street Café.

Don't miss Death Drop Back in The Habit, a hilarious drag murder mystery featuring stars of Ru Paul's Drag Race including Cheryl Hole, Victoria Scone and Kitty Scott-Claus. The show will be coming to the Playhouse from Tuesday, February 7 to Saturday, February 11.

Families can enjoy The Very Hungry Caterpillar show, a delightful performance that will see four of Eric Carle's timeless stories brought to life using 75 lovable puppets and a soundtrack of charming music. The show will be at the Playhouse from Tuesday, February 14 to Saturday, February 18.
