We've been graced with not one but two bar openings over the last fortnight.
Banyan Bar & Kitchen launches today, following a soft-opening on Friday night. Banyan has taken over the former Jamie's Italian site at Monument and transformed its two floors into a chic cocktail and dining bar.
Last week, Drop Everything And Drink (D.E.A.D) micropub started serving in High Bridge.
Sadly, cheap night out staple Gotham has served its last treble, having announced it is shutting forever.
A lot has changed in Newcastle's bar scene in the past 12 months, with new additions popping up around the city. From craft to cocktails, huge bars to micropubs, there's something for everyone.
We've rounded up 10 places to drink which have opened up since March 2018.
Banyan Bar & Kitchen

Arc Inspirations has had its eyes on Newcastle for a while, and they couldn't have picked a much better location to open Newcastle's Banyan.
Open all day, the plush bar has plenty of seating, with a focus on food.

D.E.A.D
High Bridge's newest addition is a micropub which serves up Black Storm Brewery's beers.
Drop Everything And Drink, aka D.E.A.D, opened up in a former baby clothes store earlier this month.
Now a cosy drinking haunt, its owners say customers have been impressed so far.
"There have been out of the door," said manager Erika, after D.E.A.D's first week.
"And the evenings have been really busy too."
Beeronomy

Close to both Banyan and D.E.A.D, you'll find Beeronomy .
The Hood Street bar is the brainchild of the Mordue Brewery team, who have wanted to open a place where food and craft beer could expertly paired.
Beeronomy has a rotating beer selection, while cocktails and wine have also proved to be popular since the bar opened in January.
Food is served throughout the day too, so there's not really any reason to leave. Ever.
Revolucion de Cuba

Newcastle's Cloth Market got a Latin injection when retro-Havana themed bar Revolucion de Cuba swung its doors open in July.
Set across three floors, it has party booths, a dancefloor, an outdoor patio area and an all-weather roof terrace, with Latin food served from the kitchen and Caribbean cocktails mixed behind the bar.
Prohibition
Another bar with a theme, Prohibition transports you back to Gatsby-era America, with cocktails, jazz and well-dressed customers.
Prohibition used to be in Gateshead, before moving across the Tyne and opening up on the former Jazz Cafe in Pink Lane earlier this year.
Charts

Flynn's lay empty on Newcastle's quayside for years, but last year Charts finally opened a new bar on the same site.
The music and food bar - which styles itself as having a laid-back, relaxed atmosphere - boasts wonderful views of the Quayside, with food served throughout the day.
Union Rooms

Technically, Union Rooms was open this time last year, but it was very different. The former Wetherspoon shut in the summer after it was bought by Cyclone Leisure, who San Lorenzo's in Gosforth.
Cyclone completely transformed Union Rooms. Out went the stale atmosphere, in came colour-changing cocktails and gastropub food.
Mean Eyed Cat

Micropubs have been doing the honourable thing of proving you can turn almost anything into a bar, as long as you are not too concerned about being huge.
Mean Eyed Cat opened up in a former newsagent in Thomas Street, Newcastle, in March last year.
But the small size does not hold the Cat back, with a rotating selection of real ales, craft cans and visiting food pop-ups. They're also very good at funny chalkboard signs.
Stack

With a mix of street food, craft beer and live music, it's easy to see why Stack is popular.
The shipping container village opened last August, on the former Odeon site on Pilgrim Street.
With summer its way, expect Stack to get very busy with after-work drinkers looking to soak up some sun.
And, if it is freezing out, there are loads of patio heaters.
By the River Brew Co.
Last year we got not one, but two drinking venues built out of shipping crates.
By the River Brew Co. sits on the Gateshead side of the Tyne, with wonderful views of Newcastle's Quayside.
The bar stocks a range of craft beer, wine and more, while its Trakol restaurant has earned rave reviews. Casual diners can pick up some of the North East's best street food from its HWKRMRKT.
