Thailand logged 10,863 new Covid-19 cases and 68 new fatalities during the previous 24 hours, the Public Health Ministry announced on Sunday morning.
On Saturday, 10,383 Covid-19 patients were discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
The Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) on Sunday afternoon said 12 fatalities were registered in Bangkok and the rest were distributed among 29 other provinces.
The centre said Bangkok registered the highest number of new infections -- 1,065 -- followed by 727 in Yala, 650 in Songkhla, 647 in Pattani and 519 in Nakhon Si Thammarat.
There were 10,799 cases in the general population and 64 among prison inmates.
The country imported seven cases, four of them from Cambodia and one each from Finland, Mexico and Indonesia.
Since April 1, when the third wave of Covid-19 began, Thailand has treated 1,754,838 Covid-19 patients, 1,630,212 of whom have recovered to date.
Since the pandemic started early last year, there have been 1,783,701 Covid-19 cases, with 1,657,638 complete recoveries so far.
The death toll stood at 18,179 during the third wave and 18,273 since the beginning of the pandemic.
The kingdom’s all-time 24-hour high of Covid-19 fatalities was 312 recorded on Aug 18. The highest number of cases was 23,418 on Aug 13.
Global Covid-19 cases rose by 343,318 in 24 hours to 241,170,384. The worldwide death toll went up by 5,358 to 4,910,066. The United States had the most cases at 45,774,175, up 33,910 and the most deaths at 744,385, up 464.
