THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state witnessed 10,691 positive cases of the 81,914 samples tested in the last 24 hours. Among the new cases detected 8,969 people had taken the vaccination, 3,321 have both doses and 2,666 people have not taken even a single dose. The test positivity rate (TPR) is at 13.05%.
The total cases reported in the state till date has reached 48,07,416. The total active cases at present are 1,11,083, of which 10.1% people are admitted either in hospitals or other treatment centres. Meanwhile, 85 recent deaths were confirmed as caused by Covid, taking the related death toll in the state to 26,259. At the same time, 12,655 patients have recovered from the disease.
Among the new cases, 10,196 cases have been infected through local transmission. The contact source of infection was not traceable for 393. There are 52 healthcare professionals among those infected and 50 people have arrived from outside the state.
Ernakulam reported the highest number of cases with 1,639, followed by Thrissur (1,378), Thiruvananthapuram (1,197), Kozhikode (976), Kottayam (872), Kollam (739), Malappuram (687), Kannur (602), Pathanamthitta (584), Palakkad (575), Idukki (558), Alappuzha (466), Wayanad (263) and Kasaragod (155).
There are a total of 3,61,495 persons presently under observation in various districts of the state, of which 3,48,743 are at their homes or institutional quarantine centres and 12,752 are in isolation at hospitals.
As per the weekly infection population ratio, 332 wards in 227 local bodies are having a WIPR of more than 10%. In these wards, strict lockdown restrictions have been implemented.
