As many as 10,000 Manchester United fans could descend on Old Trafford before tomorrow’s clash with Liverpool to protest against the Glazer family.
United supporters announced last week that they plan to hold a protest outside Old Trafford before the Premier League clash against their bitter rivals.
A group of anonymous fans have encouraged supporters to congregate on the forecourt outside the ground at 2pm for a peaceful and socially-distanced protest. The move comes on the back of United fans being left outraged by the club's involvement in the now collapsed European Super League breakaway.
United fans are continuing to apply pressure on the family of the Glazers over their ownership as part of a concerted effort to gain a stake in the running of the club.
And it is now claimed that as many as 10,000 will converge on the stadium to make their feelings clear about United's owners.
The club, it has been claimed, are also set to beef up security for the behind-closed-doors match, which kicks-off at 4.30, and police are also aware of the planned protest.
United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer stressed the importance of fans being heard, but hopes the planned protest will be 'peaceful'.
“It’s important that the fans’ views are listened to and that we communicate better. My job is to focus on the football side and that we have the best possible team,” he said.
“As I’ve said before, I’ve been backed, I’ve had great support from the club and the owners and I’m sure I will get the backing again to go one step further.
“But I’m so happy that all the clubs agreed that this shouldn’t be the way of moving forward. Then again, when the protests are on, it’s important that they go in a good fashion and that we keep it peaceful.”
Before adding: “The players are focused on the game and nothing else. They’ve handled difficult situations before.”
