The Eagles won’t be major players in the free-agent market, but it’s always fun to take a hypothetical look at one player from every team.
Philadelphia agreed to a deal with Brandon Graham on Friday but is expected to lose Javon Hargrave, Fletcher Cox, James Bradberry, and C.J. Gardner-Johnson — among others — to lucrative deals.
It was also announced that Darius Slay was granted permission to seek a trade, further clouding up a transition period for one of the NFL’s top defenses in 2022.
With the new league year fast approaching, here’s one pending free agent from each AFC team that the Birds should target.
Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Buffalo
A swiss army knife that could change life in Philadelphia, Edmunds is only 24 and has played in 74 career games, proving to be stout against the run and the pass.
Marcus Peters, CB, Baltimore Ravens
Peters could be the perfect No. 2 or high-end No. 3 option in a cornerback room that looking for playmakers.
Vonn Bell, S, Bengals
According to PFF, Bell’s 33 defensive stops in coverage over the past three seasons are seventh most among safeties, and his 51 defensive stops and 18 tackles for loss as a run defender over the past three seasons both rank fourth.
Jadeveon Clowney, Edge, Browns
Clowney offers the type of pass-rushing prowess that would fit Sean Desai’s rotation. Clowney logged just two sacks for the Browns in 2022 after logging nine in 2021, but he’s still stout against the run, and the Eagles emphasize getting pressure on the quarterback just as much as they do sacks. Clowney could join Josh Sweat, Derek Barnett, Haason Reddick, a 2023 draft pick, and Brandon Graham on a retooled defense that could lose several key starters.
Dalton Risner, OL, Broncos
Risner is an above-average run blocker who also excels in pass blocking, posting four straight years with a 69.5-plus pass-blocking grade according to PFF.
Rasheem Green, Edge, Texans
A player that has improved each year since being a third-round draft pick from the Seattle Seahawks, Green is a talented rotational piece that had 26 pressures, and 22 run stops for the Texans.
Parris Campbell, WR, Colts
A talented wideout, Campbell posted career-highs in receptions (63) and receiving yards (623).
Shaquill Griffin, CB, Jaguars
If Philadelphia cannot re-sign James Bradberry, Griffin could be a solid fallback option after being released.
The 27-year-old earned a 72.0 grade in 2021 from Pro Football Focus, but only saw action in five games with the Jaguars in 2022.
Griffin had a cap hit of $17.2 million and will have his list of suitors on the open market.
Frank Clark, DE, Chiefs
Clark dominated the postseason again, this time with three sacks through the first two rounds after six total on the season
With $10 million of Clark’s $20.5 million 2023 salary becoming fully guaranteed in the first week of the 2023 league year, Kansas City decided to move on with the pass rusher set to have a nearly $28.7 million cap charge next season.
Clark made the Pro Bowl in three out of four years with Kansas City and had 10.5 sacks in 12 postseason starts.
Rock Ya-Sin, CB, Raiders
The former Temple product is a solid cornerback who appeared in 11 games before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
Ya-Sin logged seven passes defended and allowed an opposing passer rating of just 82.6 in coverage.
Nasir Adderley, Safety, Chargers
Since 2020, the Philadelphia native has started 40 of the 42 games for the Chargers, logging 221 total tackles, two forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, 10 pass deflections, and two interceptions.
Raheem Mostert, RB, Dolphins
Mostert rushed for 891 yards and three touchdowns on an impressive 4.9 yards per attempt and added another 202 yards and two touchdowns on 33 receptions for the Dolphins last season and could be a player for Philadelphia to watch.
Jabrill Peppers, Safety, Patriots
Peppers had a productive season for New England playing mostly in the box in run support and in sub-defenses.
James Robinson, RB, Jets
Robinson was scheduled to be a restricted free agent, but will not be tendered an offer by the New York Jets, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.
Robinson, who was acquired by the Jets in a midseason trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars, will be a free agent.
He rushed for a combined 425 yards and three touchdowns between the two teams last season and could be a player for the Eagles to watch.
Cameron Sutton, CB, Steelers
Sutton is capable of playing in the slot or on the boundary and is a willing run defender.
Robert Woods , WR, Titans
Woods was just cut after he was unable to replace A.J. Brown as Tennessee’s No. 1 wideout. Returning from injury, Woods had only 53 catches for 527 yards in 17 games and the Titans just cleared $12 million against the cap in 2023 by moving on from Woods.
If Philadelphia is unsure about Quez Watkins, Woods could be an option as the third or fourth wide receiver.
