The order might be up for debate but most agree some combination of cornerback, safety, edge rusher and wide receiver are the Steelers top needs in the upcoming NFL draft. So what we decided to do is give you one deep sleeper prospect at each of these positions. These guys are all fourth-round and beyond but have tons of NFL potential.
CB Isaiah Johnson, Houston
Johnson is a converted wide receiver who is still growing into his skills. He’s best in press coverage and does a nice job locating the football in the air. He’s got great size and solid recovery speed. He’s probably a two-year project but definitely has starter potential.
S Mike Edwards, Kentucky

During his time at Kentucky, safety Mike Edwards did a little of everything. In any given game you could see him at the line of scrimmage, shedding blockers to stop the run or locked in man coverage deep against slot receivers. Edwards is a smart player with great awareness on the field and would make an excellent third safety.
EDGE Derick Roberson, Sam Houston State

Roberson dominated FCS competition last season. The former Texas transfer exploded for 15 sacks in 2018 after moving from inside to playing exclusively on the edge. Roberson is an effort player who never gives up on any play. He does have a nice first step and solid burst off the edge but will need to clean up his technique against NFL tackles.
WR Keelan Doss, UC-Davis

Don’t be shocked if the Steelers use more than one of their picks on a wide receiver. The Steelers are excellent at finding talent late and Keelan Doss would certainly qualify. Doss is a pure possession receiver who is more about running great routes and snatching the football out of the air than big, flashy plays.
