£1 million investment unites four oil and gas services firms

A new oil and gas services group has been formed with the amalgamation of four companies and a £1 million investment.

Aberdeenshire based eGroup brings together eBlast, eClad, eFab (formerly 1976-founded RIM Fabrication) and eTest (formerly CSD Scotland).

In the   past six months it has spent £1million on building improvements, equipment, machinery and materials at its base on Midmill Industrial Estate in Kintore. This has included quicker and more accurate drilling gear.

The growth strategy is expected to add up to 30 jobs to the 190-strong workforce in the next three years, including several senior roles, in the company’s north-east base and elsewhere.

Neil McDonald, CEO and owner of eGroup, said: “The past few years have been a challenging period for the whole of the north-east, but we have been fortunate as a business to see the relationships we have built and developed with other companies across the construction and energy sectors continuing to prove fruitful.

“The new identity is something that we’re extremely proud of as a way in which we can bring the four divisions closer together and collaborate more effectively through greater standardisation.

"This will also bring benefits to our clients in terms of cost savings and project optimisation efficiencies and, in turn, gives me a degree of confidence that we will be on sure footing throughout the upturn.”

eFab and eClad work with the British Standards Institution (BSI) to achieve

The business aims to become the first sub-contractor in the UK to achieve Kitemark for Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 certification – the flagship industry standard for infrastructure projects.

The family-run business, which dates back to the launch of RIM Fabrication in 1976, offers commercial and industrial coating, painting and surface preparation (eBlast); structural steel fabrication, accredited by Lloyd’s Register to Execution Class 3, coded welding and site erection (eFab); cladding installation, roofing and site detailing (eClad); and, non-destructive testing services (eTest) to clients across the construction, oil and gas and renewables sectors, among others.
