BHOPAL: As many as 1 lakh children were inoculated across Madhya Pradesh on Monday within two hours since the commencement of the vaccination drive for kids aged 15-18 years, according to the health department.
Teenagers who came to get the jab in Bhopal's Government Subhash Higher Secondary School also got the opportunity to get a selfie with MP chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
Around 8 lakh eligible teens in the state already registered to get vaccinated.
Online registrations began on January 1. Walk-in registrations are likely to outnumber online bookings, according to health officials.
The only vaccine option for this age group is Covaxin.
At the launch of the event for teens' vaccination in Bhopal on Monday the CM said, "All our efforts are aimed to ensure that schools and markets remain open and the state economy keeps running, while Covid-19 is defeated. For that, we have to vaccinate."
There are about 49 lakh children who are eligible to get vaccinated in the state.
Around 5.03 crore are double vaccinated in Madhya Pradesh.
