Lanes were blocked Friday on I-55 in southwest suburban Romeoville as authorities investigated a fatal crash, police said.
About 1:55 a.m., a yellow-colored Fiat rolled over and hit a trooper’s vehicle in the southbound lanes of I-55 at Weber Road, Illinois State Police said.
The driver of the Fiat was killed, and the trooper suffered minor injuries, state police said. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment and has been released. It was unclear how many people were in the Fiat.
Southbound lanes reopened just before 7 a.m., state police said.
An investigation is ongoing.
