Jan. 12--A man was found shot to death in the Austin neighborhood, and five others were wounded in shootings on the North and South sides, according to authorities.
Ronell Andrews, 21, was found face-down in the 700 block of North Lavergne Avenue by officers responding to a call of a person shot, police said. He had lived a block away, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
There have been at least 125 people shot in Chicago in the first week and a half of the new year, 20 of them fatally, according to data kept by the Tribune.
Other shootings Monday and Tuesday:
--A 23-year-old man in the Edgewater Beach neighborhood was shot around 1:25 a.m. Tuesday, according to police. He was sitting in a parked car and talking with his girlfriend when there was an argument outside and he heard gunfire.
The man was shot in the arm and back and grazed in the ear, police said. He was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where his condition was stabilized.
--Three people were shot in the 3800 block of South Wells Street in the Wentworth Gardens neighborhood just before 9 p.m. Monday, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman.
Two suffered graze wounds, and one was shot in the leg, Tannehill said, citing preliminary information that did not include conditions or details of what happened.
--A 19-year-old man was shot in 3100 block of South Kedvale Avenue in the Little Village neighborhood about 5:15 p.m., Tannehil said. The man went to St. Anthony Hospital, where he was in good condition with a wound to the left forearm, she said.
The man told police he was walking on the sidewalk when a dark SUV pulled up and a passenger fired shots, hitting him, she said. The SUV drove off.
