Three people were shot Wednesday in Chicago, including a woman who was killed in Altgeld Gardens on the Far South Side.

About 10:26 p.m., the 53-year-old was behind the wheel of a vehicle pulling into a lot in the 1000 block of East 133rd Street when shots rang out, Chicago police said.

The woman was struck in the face and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office hasn’t released details on the death.

No arrests have been reported. Area South detectives are investigating.

A man was shot during a robbery in Austin on the West Side.

The 23-year-old was walking down an alley about 11:58 a.m. in the 5700 block of West Erie Street when two unknown males approached him, police said. They went through the man’s pockets, took his personal property and one of them pulled out a handgun.

After seeing the gun, the man ran through the alley and heard gunshots behind him, police said. He was shot in the arm and taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital, where his condition was stabilized.

No arrests have been reported. Area North detectives are investigating.

In the day’s first reported shooting, a 28-year-old man was grazed by a bullet in Little Village on the South Side.

About 5:10 a.m., he was in his vehicle in the 2600 block of West Cermak Road when a white SUV approached and opened fire, grazing him on the head, police said. The white SUV then fled northbound on Rockwell Street, sideswiping a parked vehicle.

The man was able to take himself to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he was stabilized, police said.

The man told police that there were about five people in the SUV – four Hispanic males and a Hispanic female.

No one is in custody as Area Central detectives investigate.

Wednesday’s shootings come after a Tuesday where seven people were wounded in shootings citywide.
