June 24--One person was killed and two others were seriously injured early Wednesday when a car and a semitrailer collided on the Kennedy Expressway in Hubbard's Cave near the Loop.
The crash occurred just before 2 a.m. and closed all inbound lanes of Interstate 90/94 for hours. All lanes were reopened by 7 a.m., according to state police.
One person in the car was dead on the scene, according to Chicago fire Deputy District Chief Jeff Lyle. Two other people -- one in the car and one in the truck -- were seriously injured. One was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and the other to Stroger Hospital, Lyle said.
State police said they were still investigating the accident and could not provide details about what caused it.
