1 killed, 1 wounded in Englewood shooting: police

The pair were on a front porch when two males ran up and one of them opened fire.

A man was killed and another wounded in a shooting Wednesday in Englewood on the South Side, police said.

The pair were on a front porch about 11:30 a.m. when two males ran up and one of them opened fire, Chicago police said.

A 21-year-old man struck by gunfire ran to the back porch of the home in the 1800 block of West 57th Street, police said. After police showed up, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other man, 24, was grazed in the back of his head, police said. Paramedics took him to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where his condition stabilized.

Witnesses told investigators that two suspects ran away on foot, police said. The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not released details about the death.

Area South detectives are conducting a homicide investigation.
