1 killed, 1 critically wounded after shooting in Hanson Park: police

A man was killed and another is in critical condition after a shooting July 2, 2019 in Hanson Park on the North Side.

One man was killed and another was critically wounded Tuesday after a shooting in Hanson Park on the North Side.

About 1:20 a.m., the two men, 19 and 21 years old, were standing outside in the 2000 block of North Latrobe Avenue when someone fired shots at them, Chicago police said.

The 19-year-old man was struck in the chest, head and arm while the 21-year-old was hit in the shoulder and grazed on the head, police said. They were both rushed to the Illinois Masonic Medical Center where the 19-year-old died and the 21-year-old was in critical condition.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not provided details about the 19-year-old’s death.

Police did not have a description of the shooter but believe that shots may have been fired from across the street.

Area North detectives are investigating the shooting.
