A man was hurt in a crash in the first block of East 76th Street Aug. 18, 2019, in Chatham. | Tyler LaRiviere/Sun-Times

A man was injured in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday in Chatham on the South Side.

About 2:13 a.m., a 2005 Grand Prix was traveling “at a high rate of speed” north on State Street in the first block of East 76th Street, Chicago police said. The driver tried to turn right onto 76th but lost control and struck a Hyundai Elantra.

A 43-year-old man from the Grand Prix was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where his condition was stabilized, police said. All others involved refused medical attention.

Several citations were issued, police said.
