1 in custody after fatal Fernwood shooting: police

Chicago police are questioning a person of interest after a man was fatally shot Thursday in Fernwood on the South Side.

The man, believed to be in his 40s, was found with a gunshot wound to his head just before midnight in the 500 block of West 105th Street, Chicago police said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officers took a person of interest into custody to be questioned by Area Two detectives, police said.

The Cook County medical examiner’s office has not identified the man who was shot.
