INDORE: A 30-year-old man was arrested from Chandan Nagar area after brown sugar worth over Rs10 lakh was seized from his possession, police said on Friday.
Officials said that they received a taip-off that a man was carrying brown sugar in a large quantity near a residential colony in Chandan Nagar area on Thursday night. The input was verified and a joint team of Crime branch police reached the spot and caught the suspect. During the search, cops recovered brown sugar in multiple packets weighing 125 grams in total from the accused. The estimated value of seized brown sugar was around Rs10 lakh, Crime branch SP Dhanendra Bhadoria said.
The arrested accused was identified as Farhan Khan, a resident of Green Park Colony, Bhadoria said, adding that the accused during questioning revealed that he had been supplying the contraband in different districts of Madhya Pradesh and also in Rajasthan. A case has been registered against the accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 and further investigation is underway.
Officials pointed out that the arrest and recovery of brown sugar have been made by the crime branch a fortnight after Chandan Nagar police busted an inter-state gang involved in production and supply of contraband and recovery of 151kg synthetic drugs from five people. TNN
