1 dead in fiery crash on Stony Island feeder ramp

A person died after crashing into a light pole Tuesday on the Stony Island feeder ramp to the Bishop Ford on the South Side.

The vehicle caught fire after crashing on the southbound ramp about 3 a.m., according to Illinois State Police. A spokesperson for the state police did not have additional details.

A person in the car suffered multiple injuries from the crash and was pronounced dead about 3:30 a.m., according to the Cook County medical examiner’s office. An autopsy ruled the death accidental.

The person’s name has not been released by the medical examiner’s office.

Illinois State Police are investigating.
