1 dead in East Chicago shooting

A person was killed in a shooting in the 5000 block of Northcote Avenue, July 7, 2019, in East Chicago, Indiana.

A person was fatally wounded in a shooting Sunday in East Chicago, Indiana.

The male of an unknown age suffered a gunshot wound in the 5000 block of Northcote Avenue, according to the Lake County coroner’s office.

They were pronounced dead at 4:56 a.m., the coroner’s office said. His death was ruled a homicide.

East Chicago police didn’t immediately provide further details.
