1 dead, at least 3 wounded in shootings

Nov. 04--One person was killed and another wounded in separate shootings overnight Sunday, police said.

About 12:25 a.m., a 46-year-old Evanston man was found dead in the city's South Shore neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers found the man in the 3000 block of East Cheltenham Place with multiple stab wounds, officials said. He was pronounced dead on the scene, and the death has been classified as a homicide investigation, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer.

The man was identified as Andre Brown, of the 15400 block of West Chicago Avenue in north suburban Evanston, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

In other shootings:

--About 6:10 a.m. Monday, a 32-year-old man walked into John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County with a gunshot wound to his shoulder, said News Affairs Officer Ana Pacheco. The man told police he had been shot in the 3900 block of West Lexington Street in the Lawndale neighborhood on the city's West Side. He was listed in serious condition, Pacheco said.

--About 5:10 a.m., an 18-year-old man walked into St. Mary and Elizabeth Medical Center after he had been shot. The teen told police he was shot in the 1600 block of North Hamlin Avenue in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side. He was treated for a gunshot wound to his left thigh, Pacheco said.

--Hours earlier, a 28-year-old man was critically wounded in a shooting in West Town, police said. About 12:10 a.m., the 28-year-old was sitting in a parked white sedan in a parking lot in the 1200 block of West Randolph Street when a white car pulled alongside and someone inside announced a robbery, said Greer said.

The 28-year-old fled the parking lot in the car, and a gunman inside the other car opened fire, striking the 28-year-old in his arm and chest, police said.

The man then crashed into a median in the 700 block of West Randolph Street, police said. He was taken to John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in critical condition.

No one is in custody in conneciton with the shootings as of early Monday, police said.
