Aug. 19--A man is dead and four other people were wounded by gunfire across the city since Tuesday evening, police said.
A man in his 30s was found dead in Rogers Park about 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, said Officer Amina Greer, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.
Someone found him with a gunshot wound to the head in an apartment in the 1100 block of West Morse Avenue.
Chicago police are conducting a death investigation. Greer said police did not yet have enough information to determine whether the shooting was a homicide.
A 29-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his ankle drove himself to Stroger Hospital on Wednesday morning, said Officer Jose Estrada, a police spokesman.
The man told police he was driving in the 1700 block of West Garfield Boulevard at 2:15 a.m. when he heard gunfire and felt pain. His condition was stabilized.
A 21-year-old woman was shot in the foot in Englewood at 9:20 p.m., said Officer Veejay Zala, a police spokesman.
She was on a porch in the 6800 block of South Sangamon Street when someone fired shots and she was struck, Greer said. She was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition.
A 27-year-old man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in West Pullman, Zala said.
He was in the 11600 block of South Throop Street at 8:50 p.m. when he was shot in the chest, abdomen and hand.
Police officers responding to a call of shots fired Tuesday night found him on the sidewalk, Greer said. He was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn in critical condition.
Authorities said he was being uncooperative with investigators.
A 17-year-old girl was wounded Tuesday evening in a shooting in the South Chicago neighborhood.
She was shot shortly after 6:30 p.m. in the 8500 block of South Kingston Avenue, said Officer Thomas Sweeney, a police spokesman.
According to preliminary information, someone shot the girl in the foot. She was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in good condition, authorities said.
