1 astounding Warriors stat shows why they won Game 2

There were so many reasons on paper the Golden State Warriors should have lost Game 2 of the 2019 NBA Finals.

Steph Curry wasn’t feeling well in the first half. Andre Iguodala got hurt again. Klay Thompson was injured. DeMarcus Cousins probably wasn’t at full strength. Kevin Durant wasn’t playing.

But none of that mattered. The Dubs came together as a team and will head back to the Bay with the series tied at 1-1.

And that’s where this astounding stat comes in. It proves just how much the Warriors played like a team, which is doubly impressive in the face of adversity:

The Warriors assisted on 34 of 38 made baskets. That 89.5% rate is the highest for any team in a Finals game since at least 1984 (as far back as the Play Index goes for that stat).

This when we should all realize the Warriors aren’t just a dynasty because of their talent. They’ve taken Steve Kerr’s philosophy to heart, they’ve become versatile when they need to be and after a rough beginning to this season, they’ve become unselfish.
