Some 1,800 Leaving Cert Applied students are to get an increase in marks after a “procedural error” was discovered in the marking process.
The State Examinations Commission said the mistake came to light when a school contacted them with concerns that its students’ results were lower than expected.
The issue related to how the ‘Personal Reflection Task’ was marked.
A SEC spokesperson told RTE the incorrect version of a computer programme was used while collating grades.
The Commission said it has checked all of its programmes again and is satisfied that the error was only in this area.
Last year, a number of mistakes were discovered in the calculated grades system, which led to better marks for thousands of students.
