1,591 a record for Tokyo

A record-high 1,591 new cases of novel coronavirus infection were confirmed in Tokyo on Wednesday, the metropolitan government announced.

The daily record was over 250 cases higher than the previous record of 1,337, reported on Dec. 31. Patients in serious condition numbered 113, up by two from the previous day and also the highest ever.
