- The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) in Indianapolis have seized more than 1,500 pieces of counterfeit World Cup merchandise .
- According to a statement from the CBP, 18 shipments of fake goods were seized.
- If real, the 1,578 items would have generated a retail price of around $134,594.
- Officials said that the seized shipments included: 530 World Cup 2026 jerseys, 380 beanies, 349 Puma, Adidas and Nike shirts associated with the tournament and 319 other World Cup-related items.
- The release stated that most shipments originated from Hong Kong and were “destined for locations both within and outside the United States.”
