1.5 lakh security personnel to keep vigil

LUCKNOW: At least 1.5 lakh armed central paramilitary, UP Police and PAC personnel will be deployed across the state to keep vigil during counting of votes on March 10. Around 625 senior police officers will be deployed to oversee counting along with observers.

A senior officer said that a three-tier security system has been put in place for counting of votes. The innermost security cordon will be of central paramilitary forces, while the second cordon will be managed by police and LIU. The third cordon will comprise PAC personnel.

ADG, law and order, Prashant Kumar said security personnel will be deployed in adequate numbers while vigil will also be kept on social media. “Police will also keep a check on rumours and those spreading misinformation in connection with the counting process,” said Kumar.
