1,382 more cases of Covid-19 confirmed with Micheal Martin set to announce 'Freedom Day'

A total of 1,382 more people have tested positive for coronavirus in Ireland, while 355 patients are being treated in hospital.

54 people are in ICU with Covid-19, a decrease from 61 yesterday.

The figures were confirmed by the Department of Health this afternoon.

Taoiseach Micheal Martin will address the nation from Government buildings this evening to outline a roadmap to end all Covid-19 restrictions.

He is expected to speak at 6pm after Cabinet sign off on the roadmap.

The Government are expected to announce that almost all Covid-19 restrictions will be scrapped by October 22nd.

Live indoor music and increased numbers at outdoor sport and live events is expected to be permitted from September 6th.

On September 20th, people will be allowed to return to the workplace and indoor activities like bowling alleys, bingo halls, indoor sports like basketball, gymnastic and dance classes can also resume.
