1,000 Saudis Pay ‘Zakat’ via Zakaty e-Portal

General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT)

Around 1,000 individuals in Saudi Arabia have paid more than SAR4.4 million (USD1.17 million) via the Zakaty e-portal and Zakaty app that are affiliated with the General Authority of Zakat and Tax (GAZT), two weeks after the portal’s launch.

Since its launch at the beginning of Ramadan, the portal (zakaty.gov.sa) witnessed a huge turnout given its helpful role in paying zakat, or Islamic alms, electronically inside the Kingdom or abroad through Sadad, GAZT said in a statement.

It added that the e-portal offers several services to individuals, including information about zakat and a zakat calculator, in addition to a reminder.

The portal also informs donors of how their alms are being spent.

The authority noted that Zakaty permits individuals, whether inside or outside the Kingdom, to benefit from its services.
