£1,000 reward to catch acid attacker who doused dog

The USPCA will pay a £1,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person who doused a dog with acid.

The charity is seeking help to bring a prosecution for in Newry.

And the reward has been gathered as a result of donations made to the USPCA by the public.

The charity's Chief Executive Brendan Mullan said: “The graphic reports of the appalling acid attack that took the life of a family pet in Newry has triggered a tidal wave of revulsion and through the generosity of the public, we are now able to offer this £1,000 reward.

“We would encourage anyone with information that may assist the PSNI in their investigation to contact them on the 101 number. It is important that the perpetrators of this vile and cruel act are found and brought before the courts.”

Police received a report about an injured dog in the Pound Road area of Newry at approximately 6.10pm on Tuesday May 28.

The was taken to a local vet due to the severity of its injuries she had to be euthanised.

The public is asked to call the PSNI on 101 if you have information about the acid attack.
