The third week of testimony in Donald Trump’s hush money trial is coming to a close after jurors heard from porn actor Stormy Daniels. Prosecutors are gearing up for their crucial witness, Michael Cohen, Trump's former attorney.

Daniels' account of an alleged sexual encounter with Trump is a key element for prosecutors, aiming to demonstrate that Trump and his allies suppressed negative stories during the 2016 presidential election to unlawfully influence the outcome. Trump vehemently denies the alleged encounter and expressed his innocence as he left the court in frustration.

During Daniels' testimony, she vividly described the events following her meeting with Trump at a celebrity golf outing, where she felt a mix of surprise, fear, and discomfort. Trump's attorneys attempted to discredit Daniels, portraying her as a dishonest individual seeking to tarnish the former president's reputation.

The defense argues that the hush money payments were made to protect Trump's personal life and family, not his campaign. The trial also involves charges against Trump for falsifying internal business records related to the hush money payments.

As the trial progresses, the focus will shift to Michael Cohen, who arranged the $130,000 payout to Daniels. Cohen, a central figure in the hush money scheme, has already pleaded guilty to federal charges.

Witnesses have provided varying testimonies, ranging from mundane financial details to salacious stories about Trump and efforts to conceal them. The trial ultimately revolves around financial transactions and whether they were intended to unlawfully sway the 2016 election.

Amidst legal battles and repeated gag order violations, Trump's attorneys are challenging court orders and seeking expedited decisions from higher courts. The outcome of this trial could have significant implications for Trump's political future as he faces multiple legal challenges.
