- U.S. President Donald Trump has lashed out at Australia for not helping the U.S. with the Strait of Hormuz.
- “I am not happy with Australia because they were not there when we asked them to be there,“ Trump said Thursday in a response to a question about Australia raising defense spending to 3% of GDP by 2033.
- Trump has repeatedly verbally attacked US allies in the weeks since he launched the war with Iran. He turned against Italian PM Giorgia Meloni earlier this week.
- "I'm shocked by her. I thought she had courage. I was wrong," he said.
- It comes as Trump is working to reopen the strait and negotiate a peace deal with Iran to end the war, with a second round of talks expected as soon as this weekend.
