Trump endures ‘chorus of boos’ at World Cup final as he crowns Spain the champions

  • President Donald Trump endured a chorus of “boos” at the World Cup final as he took to the field to present awards.
  • White House reporters at the game noted “a sustained chorus of boos” as he walked onto the pitch. “Ambient crowd noise was about 78 decibels. Booing brought it to 84,” the pool reporter noted.
  • At least one player, Argentina’s Cristian Romero, refused to shake Trump’s hand during the second place medal ceremony. He walked right past him rather than stopping.
  • Trump presented the trophy to Spain then stood to the side of the team as they celebrated, before eventually walking away.
  • Trump could be seen behind bullet-proof glass at the MetLife Stadium, with First Lady Melania Trump and Barron Trump also sitting alongside him for the game.
